1. What do you understand by vitamins?


Answer ⇒ Organic substances that are necessary for proper growth of the body of animals and humans and their biological functions are called vitamins.


2. What is sleeplessness?

Answer ⇒ The thermal process of converting concentrated ore to metallic oxide at a temperature lower than the freezing point in the presence of air is called disintegration.

3. What is the Tyndall effect? Explain

Answer ⇒ There is no scattering of light when the light beam is flowed in the actual solution. When a similar light beam is flown into a colloidal solution, the light is scattered. Likewise, dust particles are seen in the light coming from the skylight in a closed room because the light is being dispersed. This incident was witnessed by Faraday and later expressed by Tyndall. This effect is called the Tyndall effect, so when the converging beam of light is put on the soul, the entire path of light appears to be an angle or cone. Which is called Tyndall angle or cone and this phenomenon is called Tyndall effect.


4. What are essential and unnecessary amino acids? Give two examples of each type.

Answer ⇒ Essential amino acids – Amino acids, which are needed for human health and growth but are not synthesized in human body, are called essential amino acids. Such as valine, leucine, phenyl alanine etc.

Non-essential amino acids – Amino acids, which are needed for human health and growth and which are synthesized in the human body, are called unnecessary amino acids. Such as glycine, alanine, aspartic acid etc.


5. Write the names of the synthesized polymers.

Answer ⇒ Synthetic polymers – Numerous man-made polymers are being used in abundance in daily life and industries. Inmores (nylon, polyesters), plastics (polyethylene, polypropene), rubber (neoprene, polystyrene) etc. come.


6. Cd2 + ion is colorless, why?

Answer ⇒ Cd2 + ion is colorless because there are no unpaired electrons in its d-orbitals. The d-d transition does not occur as a result.

7. Why does the conductivity of a semiconductor increase with increasing temperature?

Answer ⇒ The conductivity of the semiconductor increases when the heat increases because more and more electrons from the valence band start moving into the conduction band.


8. Define osmotic pressure.

Answer ⇒ Osmotic pressure – The osmotic pressure is the pressure that, when reduced from pure solvent, reduces its vapor pressure to equal the vapor pressure of the solution, or the excess pressure applied to the solution so that the vapor pressure of the solution is equal to the vapor pressure of the solvent Lets do it.


9. What is Frenkel defect?

Answer ⇒ Frenkel defect – In an ionic solid the cation or anion is displaced from its original lattice point and enters the interstitial site, a Frankel defect occurs. For this the size of the cation should be much smaller than the anion. This decreases the durability of the crystal but the density remains unchanged.


10. What is an antimagnetic substance?

Answer ⇒ Antimagnetic materials – Substances which are weakly repelled by the external magnetic field are called antimagnetic. These materials do not have unpaired electrons and all the orbitals are completely filled. Therefore, an electron’s magnetic moment is destroyed by coupling to an electron with opposite rotation and does not show magnetic properties. For example – Zn2 + compounds, TiO2, NaCl, C6H6, V2O3, Mg2 + etc.


11. What is the effect on specific conductivity when water is added to an aqueous solution of an electrolyte?

Answer ⇒ The specific conductivity decreases as the number of ions per unit volume decreases when water is added to an aqueous solution of an electrolyte.


12. What are the conductivity of electrically ionic solutions -Depends?

Answer ⇒ Conductivity depends on the following things:

(i) The nature of the electrolytes added.

(ii) The size of the ions obtained and their solvent hybridization

(iii) Nature and viscosity of solvent

(iv) Concentration of electrolytes

(v) Heat (conductivity increases with increasing temperature).


13. Briefly explain the chemical nature and physiological activity of insulin.

Answer ⇒ Insulin strongly affects carbohydrate metabolism. It helps in the entry of glucose and other sugars into the cells by increasing the cell membrane vulnerability and increasing the phosphorylation of glucose. Insulin lowers glucose concentrations in the blood. It increases anabolic actions and inhibits catabolic actions. When it is deficient in humans, it becomes a disease called diabetes.


14. Write a test to explain the difference between methyl alcohol and ethyl alcohol.

Answer ⇒ Alcohol and ethyl alcohol can be distinguished by the Oil of Winterprene test.

Methyl alcohol gives smell to methyl salicylate while ethyl alcohol gives no odor.


15. Give reasons: Increasing the temperature increases the rate of reaction.

Answer ⇒ The velocity of the reaction increases with increasing temperature, because the kinetic energy of the reactant molecules increases.

Answer ⇒ At room temperature H2O fluid and H2S are found in the gas state because there is an intermittent hydrogen bond between the molecules of H2O while the commercial force between the molecules of H2S is active.


17. What is an electrochemical equivalent?

Answer ⇒ Electrochemical Equivalence — The amount of free substance when an ampere’s current flows through it for one second is called an electrochemical equilibrium. The amount of a substance that can discard or absorb one mole electron is called the chemical equivalent of that substance. The electrochemical equivalent (Z) of a substance is proportional to its chemical equivalent (EI).


18. What is specific conductivity?

Answer ⇒ Specific Conductivity – The conductivity of a unit of solitary solute in an electrolyte is called its specific conductivity. The standard is ohm-1 cm-1 or S cm -1 .


19. Why is a better fuel cell than primary and secondary batteries?

Answer ⇒ Fuel cell is better than primary and secondary batteries because its efficiency is high (70%) and it does not generate pollution.


20. What is an antibiotic? Name the antibiotic that was first discovered.

Answer ⇒ Antibiotics are chemical substances produced by microorganisms (bacteria, fungi and fungi) that inhibit or even destroy the growth of other microorganisms. Antibiotics are now called substances that inhibit or destroy their growth by inhibiting the metabolic processes of microorganisms in low concentrations.
